COVID-19 Cases Rise

The Georgia Department of Health, North Central Health District reports that Jasper County has reached 521 confirmed Covid cases with a total of 990 confirmed and presumptive cases.

There has been a 14 percent increase in cases since the district’s report on January 3. The incidence rate of Covid 19 for Jasper County residents from the current two week is 1040 (1040 cases per 100,000 population). The previous two week rate was 1104.

With regards to the Retreat Nursing Home & Jasper Memorial Hospital, Administrator Jan Gaston said that there had been no further residents that tested positive for the virus since January 4 but that several employees have tested positive.

Mrs. Gaston said that employees continue to be vaccinated and residents who have recovered are being vaccinated as well. She went on to explain that recovered resident families are now able to schedule face time and telephone call visits with their loved ones.
