Hurricanes Are Named All-Region
Several Jasper County-Monticello High School football players were recognized for their efforts on the field during the recent season by being named to All-Region team for 3-AA.

Senior Mac Barton was named second team punter for 3-AA. Barton rarely came off the field for the Canes playing quarterback for a majority of the season. He was a key player defensively and on special teams.
Sophomore Cedrion Stone was second team for his defensive efforts at linebacker as he made 49 solo tackles and 20 assists with nine quarterback sacks in just seven games of action.
Junior Mason Copeland was second team defensive lineman after recording 22 solo tackles with 11 assists and 12 tackles for negative yardage. Copeland also had six quarterback sacks.
Junior Shamarian Greene was honorable mention All-Region at running back after rushing for a team-high 959 yards on 235 carries with seven touchdowns.
Jackson Taylor, also a junior, was named honorable mention All-Region on the offensive line.
With the exception of Burton, all players recognized on the All-Region teams will return for the Hurricanes in 2021.
“We are proud of each of these players for being recognized as some of the top players in our region,” coach Rydell Jackson said. “It was a challenging season and it was great to see their hard work pay off.”
