Tiebeaker Is Difference As 13 Get All 11 Games
Only 11 of the 13 games listed in last week’s Monticello News football contest ended up being played, and 13 contest players got 11 right, making the tie-breaker guess very important.
Rusty Pittman guessed 60 points would be scored in Piedmont’s lost to Gatewood, 42-21, making the tie-breaker score 63. Mr. Pittman guessed 60 points would be scored in the contest. Everyone else who had 11 right guessed a lower tie-breaker.
For his effort, Mr. Pittman picked up a $25 prize from Patrick Diaz with MD HVAC, sponsor of the week. Mr. Pittman plays sporadically, although several family members play faithfully each week, and have for quite some time. He said it was probably the third time he played this year.
Others who also got 11 right, but guessed a lower tie-breaker were Wayne Rye, Lyle Weber, Nancy Cullum, Danny Tumlin, Gary Anglin, Kasey Hall, Jackson Greenway, Jess Greenway, Mary Tumlin, James Greenway, Lynne Q. Jordan, and Pat Tria.
Numerous others also got nine or 10 right to have their names added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll.
This week, another lucky or talented player will win a $25 prize from Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, sponsor of the week.
All you have to do is turn to the contest on page 11 of today’s paper, complete the entry form, or write answers on a separate piece of paper, and submit it to The News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 20. Entries may be faxed to 706-468-6576, e-mailed to info@themonticellonews.com or brought in person to 247 West Washington Street in Monticello, about a half block off the Square in the big pink house.
