M. Tumlin Gets 12 & Tiebreaker To Win
Jasper County Middle School teacher Mary Tumlin is this week’s winner of The Monticello News football contest by virtue of her guess that 42 points would be scored in Notre Dame’s 31-13 win over Georgia Tech, making the actual tie-breaker score be 44.
Hannah Greenway also correctly guessed the winner of 12 games listed but was further off on the tie-breaker, guessing 54 points would be scored in the tie-breaker game.
Grant Land from Venture Medical Associates, sponsor of the week, presented Mrs. Tumlin with her $25 prize. The only game Mrs. Tumlin missed on was Virginia’s defeat of North Carolina. Ms. Greenway’s only miss was a pro game, picking Cleveland to defeated the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders won 16-6.
Dozens of players correctly guessed the winners of 10 or more games listed last week, the number needed to make the Grand Prize Honor Roll. In the eighth week of the contest, at least two players already have five chances at the Grand Prize.
Anyone can play, and anyone can win…whether novice or seasoned pro. All you have to do is turn to the contest on page 10 of today’s paper, fill out the entry form or write your guesses on a separate piece of paper, and submit to The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 6.
Entries may be brought in person to 247 West Washington Street, e-mailed to info@themonticellonews.com or faxed to 706-468-6576. Get it here how you want, but make sure you do it by tomorrow. (We’re fussy about this deadline.)
