Stone Workman Wins Contest

Stone Workman was the winner of last week’s football contest by correctly picking the winner of 11 of the 13 games listed, and coming closer on the tie-breaker than any other player.

For his efforts, Mr. Workman collected a $25 prize and a new t-shirt from Daniel Suwinski at Lewis and Malone Heating and Air.

Others who also correctly picked 11 winners but were further off on the tie-breaker include Andrew Cumbie, Mrs. Janet Davis, James Lewis, John Stork, and Mr. Workman’s son, Phillips Workman.

Each of the Workmans—Stone, Jean and Phillips—have won previously, but Stone is the first to post two contest wins.

All of them, as well as those players correctly guessing the winner of 10 games played, have their names added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll.

Under this year’s rules, you can miss three, and still make the honor roll. And the honor roll continues to grow.

This week, players have another chance at a $25 prize or to at least get their names on the honor roll for the end-of-season grand prize. Whoever gets the most right, depending on the tie-breaker, if needed, will collect a $25 prize from Primary Care Center, sponsor of the week.

Anyone can play…whether you’re like the Workmans and have played more than two decades, or whether you’re just starting out. There is no secret to winning. Sometimes the winners are not the ones who know the most about football.

However, you choose your teams…be it by odds or by uniform color or mascot…just select who you think will win each of the 13 games listed. Guess how many total points you predict will be scored in the game, and submit your entry no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 2.

Entries may be submitted in person at 247 West Washington Street (we’re the big pink “house” about a half-block off the Square), by fax to 706-468-6576, or by email to info@themonticellonews.com. Please write legibly.

And, remember to patronize the businesses that sponsor the contest, and maybe even tell them how much you enjoy it.
