JV Football Canes Fall in Close Game

There were plenty of positives in last week’s Jasper County-Monticello junior varsity football game.

Despite falling to Oglethorpe County 12-7, the JV Canes battled until the end, coach Keldrick Davis said.

“Oglethorpe County is a much-improved team,” Davis said. “We had a chance to score late in the second half but came up short. We fought to the end.”

Kaidon Whidby had a rushing touchdown for the Jasper County-Monticello while Alfredo Torres added the extra-point kick.

“One thing I can say about our boys is we never quit and they gave effort throughout the game,” Davis said. “We will continue to work to improve each week.”

The JV Canes will return to action on October 1 for a road game against Jackson High School at 5:30 p.m.
