Thefts Reported; Few Arrests

Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) are investigating three thefts that occurred in the last week.

A deputy discovered the theft of services from an address on Harvey Street, and a wheelbarrow was taken from an address on Alcovy Street. In addition, 50 small gas tanks, some with gas, were taken from an address on Liberty Church Road.

Persons arrested in the last week, and their charges, include:

Fielding James Thompson, 36, Jonesboro—possession of methamphetamine, possession of Schedule I controlled substance, driving while license suspended or revoked, tail light violation, windshield or windshield wiper violation and parole violation.

Cody Allen Taylor, 24, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton Co.

Cory Marcel Benton, 29, Monroe—probation violation.

Miguel Angel Bautista, 19, Monticello—possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.
