Several Cases Are Heard In Jasper Superior Court
The Jasper County Superior Court August 4 criminal calendar session produced several sentences under the jurisdiction of Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Judge Amanda Petty.
•Larandy Gotel, sentenced to three months of probation for charges of public indecency, simple battery, and obstruction of an officer. Fined $500.
•Martha Hollaway, sentenced to two years of probation for family violence battery, obstruction of an officer and simple battery with two aggravated stalking charges nolle prossed. Fined $500 and credited with time served since July 1, 2020.
•Jonathan Sims, sentenced to one year of probation for two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree and battery. Fined $300. For this new charge the defendant’s probation was revoked to 180 days in jail which was suspended upon entry into a state probation detention center for 120-180 days and banished from Jasper County and any contact with his underage victims.
•Terry Thompson, sentenced to one year of probation for theft by taking. Defendant also violated previous probation terms and was ordered to obtain a substance abuse assessment within 30 days of release and ordered to complete NA/AA treatment twice weekly for six months. Credited with time served since June 29, 2020.
Probation revocations included the following:
•Dylon Comer, probation revoked to the Jasper County jail until December 25, 2020 and credited for time served since May 12, 2020. Defendant failed to appear for a revocation hearing in January 2020, received new charge of possession of schedule I substance in May 2020, failed to complete substance abuse counseling, failed to complete community service, pay court fees, and report to probation.
•Amber Vorhies, probation revoked to Jasper County jail until November 8, 2020 with credit for time served since March 7, 2020. Defendant failed to complete an alcohol/drug evaluation, recived new charge of violation of probation in Henry County, failed to complete community service, pay court fees, and report to probation.
Judge William Prior presided over the July 21, 2020 motion day and criminal calendar. During that session James Pittman was sentenced to two years of confinement for possession of firearm by convicted felon. He will receive credit for time served since June 28, 2020.
Also, Albert A. Gantt was sentenced to one year of probation for theft by receiving stolen property. Defendant must pay restitution of $800 to his victim.
Judge Brenda Trammell presided over the July 14, 2020 motion day and criminal calendar.
Benjamin Perkins was sentenced to four years with the first 170 days in Jasper County jail for aggravated stalking. He was fined $1,000 and credited with time served since June 9, 2020.
Probation revocations included:
•Joshua Wisner, probation revoked to 130 days in Jasper County jail with credit for time served for failure to report to the Covington probation office, failure to complete drug test, failure to complete family violence intervention program, and failure to make court payments.
Kiefer Wood, probation revocation to 120 days in Jasper County jail with credit for time served since March 8, 2020 for the new offense of driving under the influence in Newton County.
