Jasper William ‘J.W.’ Cummings
Jasper William “J.W.” Cummings, age 78, of Monticello passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020.
He was born February 6, 1942 in Reynolds, Ga. to Jasper Newton and Lois Eugenie Price Cummings who have preceded him in death.
Mr. Cummings grew up in Reynolds and attended Reynolds High School. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He coached recreational baseball and served as the mayor of Newborn.
Mr. Cummings was very proud of his service in the Army National Guard. He owned Cummings Grading and Cummings Site Development in Newborn for many years. J.W. loved to work and enjoyed making homemade soup, fishing, hunting, reading, and gardening. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Hancock and his brother Jack Cummings.
Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife, Wanda Nolan Cummings, his children Scott Cummings and his wife DeAnn, Shawne Cummings Holder and her husband Greg, and Ryan Cummings all of Monticello, his grandchildren Scottiann and Matthew, Ashley, Gracie, Jackson, Ethan, and Natalie; his sister Lynsey Adams of Zebulon along with a host of other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Cummings were held Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Rev. David Artessa officiating. Interment followed at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
