Joe Marshall Vaughn

Joe Marshall Vaughn, age 84, was born on August 3, 1935 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. He died June 20, 2020 at Grantville, Ga.

He was the son of Samuel Enoch Vaughn and Claudine Alline Pitts Vaughn. He was one of 13 children in this family.

For many years he was employed as a transportation clerk by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

His passion in life was music. He was a talented musician and played piano for gospel groups, soloists and churches including Prospect United Methodist Church in Jasper County where he was a member. He also loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Dean Vaughn.

He is survived by five children, Mark Vaughn, Michael Vaughn, Mary Sosby, Melissa Whitfield and Maquel Abdul-Haadi and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be graveside at Prospect United Methodist Church, 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Friends will be greeted immediately prior to the service at the cemetery. Rev. David Williams will officiate.
