65 Covid-19 Cases Registered Here
Covid-19 cases currently total 65 in Jasper County as of Tuesday evening. The June 22 operational summary from the North Central Health District (NCHD) listed 61 from the data collected through June 21. The purpose of this report is to provide situational awareness to district partners and community members.
NCHD is part of the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) and serves individuals residing in 13 Central Georgia counties: Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Hancock, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Putnam, Twiggs, Washington, and Wilkinson.
In reporting on each county’s outlook week-to-week with regards to Covid-19 cases, the NCHD examines the latest data and classifies each county by severity of case numbers. Of the 13 counties in the health district, Baldwin and Jasper were designated as having substantial spread during the period of June 1 through June 14; with Bibb, Houston, Monroe, Peach, Jones, Putnam, and Wilkinson having minimal/moderate spread and the remaining counties with low or insufficient date to record.
The incidence rate of Covid-19 for Jasper County residents between June 1 – June 14 was 143 per 100,000 population. There was an 18 percent decrease in newly confirmed cases amongst Jasper County residents between the week of June 1 and June 8.
Additionally, some 270 specimens for testing have been been collected at the designated NCHD testing site as of June 21, a 10 percent increase from the week previous.
Within the NCHD, there have been 2,425 confIrmed and presumptive cases with a median age range of 52; 509 hospitalizations; 167 deaths with a median age of 73, according to the weekly report.
Overall within the health district the following statistics have been compiled thus far:
•68 percent of hospitalized cases have been reported as being discharged.
•71 percent of deaths are associated with a congregate setting outbreak.
•20 percent of cases have been identified as healthcare workers.
•45 percent of cases are associated with a congregate setting outbreak.
