COVID-19 Cases Continue To Rise

Covid-19 cases in Jasper County rose to 51 as of June 9, an increase in 10 cases since the week ending May 31, according to a report from the North Central Health District (NCHD), a sector of the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).

The NCHD, which serves individuals residing in 13 Central Georgia counties including Jasper, announces a change in testing times for Jasper County residents. Beginning June 8, testing hours will be adjusted to 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Jasper County Health Department.

Since the week prior, Jasper County’s collection of specimens for testing has risen by 61 percent up to 206 collections from 131 in the week prior. Jasper had the largest increase in testing from the week prior than any other county in the health district. Jones, Peach, and Twiggs counties were the only counties in the district to record nominal increases in cases over the past week.

The NCHD updates the statistics weekly on Sundays and releases the information on Mondays with posts to its NCHD COVID-19 webpage at NCHD52.org/coronavirus.
