Yvette Ramia Scott

On the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2020, Ms. Yvette Ramia Scott succumbed to illness at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She was looking forward to a hopeful recovery at home with family. At the time of her passing, she was 49 years old.

Yvette Scott was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on December 14, 1970 to proud parents, Margaret Ann and Roosevelt, Jr. She attended Madison High School in Madison Township, Ohio, where she excelled in cosmetology, sports (including state championships in volleyball and track and field), and was, in 1989, notably crowned her school’s first African-American Homecoming Queen.

Yvette went on to complete college credits from The Ohio State University, as well as embark upon a fulfilling career as an Account Executive with Amedisys Home Health. A personal health advocate, after battling illness of her own, she found her career particularly rewarding. Yvette loved people, and enjoyed the “people” aspect of her career the most. She also enjoyed tending to her beautiful home–decorating, landscaping, entertaining–and all the love that went into it–with her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Princess Rogers Nelson Scott (she was an avid Prince fan).

Ms. Scott is survived by her mother, Margaret Ann Garner of Monticello, and father, Roosevelt Scott Jr. (Jacqueline) of Ocala, Fla.; three sisters: Stephanie Scott of Ocala, Fla., Janelle Scott of London, United Kingdom, and Maya Garner of Atlanta; a nephew, James Scott of El Paso, Texas, and two nieces, Sadarah Scott-Elder of Mansfield, Ohio, and Nia Sizemore of Ocala, Fla., as well as a host of additional loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of a funeral service, a public memorial will take place at a later date. In the interim, flowers, and memorials may be sent to her mother’s family home at 119 Ford Street in Monticello, Ga. 31064.
