Jimmie Smith
Mr. Jimmie Smith committal service and burial at the Georgia Veterans Memorial was held on April 13, 2020.
Mr. Smith was born on January 26, 1946 to the late Mr. Eddie Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Ida Fears Smith.
He served in the U.S. Army from February 2, 1965 to April 15, 1985 and was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #326.
On Thursday, April 9, 2020 God called Jimmie home.
Jimmie Smith was joined in holy matrimony to Erica Ross Smith on June 30, 2000. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church.
His career spanned over 12 years as a truck driver and he later became employed at Jasper County Public Works Department until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by three brothers: Charlie Smith, Albert Smith and Eddie Smith, Jr. Sisters: Mamie Louise Smith, Ida Jane McElheney, Littie Ann Smith, Elouise Smith, Millie Mae Smith and Lizzie Kate Smith.
He leaves to mourn his departure, a loving wife of 20 years, Mrs. Erica Ross Smith of Monticello; sons, Jimmie (Tonia) McCluskey of Abingdon, MD and Harvey Jordan of Monticello; daughters, Granada (Carlos) Norris of Locust Grove, and Teressa Jordan of Monticello; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Eunice T. Smith, Patricia (Dan) Carey, Camilla (Roger) Goodrum, Minnie Lawrence all of Monticello,; Ella (Ben) Head of Jackson, and Sheila Ross of Forsyth, Also, brothers-in-law, Carey Ross, Tony Ross both of Monticello, and Donnis (Gladys) Davis of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jimmia, Adrian, Qurdea, Jada, I’Keiria, Ke’on, Charlee, Zoey, Cassius, and Gavin. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
