Nena Elizabeth Foster Poteet
Nena Elizabeth Foster Poteet, age 49, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Nena was born in Griffin, Ga. on January 24, 1971 to Mike and Rachel Foster. She lived in Locust Grove until moving to Monticello in 1992, after marrying Todd Poteet.
Nena was a 1989 graduate and class salutatorian of Meadow Creek Academy “MCA” (now known as Eagles Landing). During high school, she was a cheerleader and captain for her junior and senior years. After high school, she attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega and cheered for one year. She later received her associate degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville.
Nena has worked for over 20 years for Jasper County Primary School as a paraprofessional and received the Paraprofessional of the Year award several years. She was active in her children’s school activities including band mom for the Monticello Marching Hurricanes for nine years. She loved to dance and listen to 1980’s music.
Nena was actively involved in her husband, Todd’s motorcycle club, Dixie Outsiders and was lovingly known as “Moon”.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Todd Poteet of Monticello; daughter, Holly Rachel Poteet of Atlanta; son, Hunter Todd Poteet of Atlanta; parents, Michael T. “Mike” and Rachel Mayo Foster of Locust Grove; brother, Jeff Foster of Knoxville, Tenn.
A private memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2020.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers checks be made to the Jasper County Primary School, in memory of Nena Poteet, 495 Hwy 212 W, Monticello, Ga. 31064 to be used for the school children. Please contact Pam Edge, JCPS Principal, 706-819-8072, for more information.
