Gunshot at Post Office Investigated

Sunday morning deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Monticello Post Office to investigate gunshots fired into the front of the building.
Upon arrival deputies observed what appeared to be a single gunshot that entered the front door, penetrated the glass in the foyer, then struck the roll down window cover at the counter. Investigators located and recovered the projectile.
The Sheriff’s Office is actively working this investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call 706-468-4912; callers can remain anonymous.
Deputies also investigated a reported of a stolen vehicle this week, as well as a report of theft by conversion and I.D. fraud.
Persons arrested in the last week, and their charges, include:
•Jesse Wayne Buffington, 31, Conyers—distributing obscene materials.
•Reginald Edmond Crawley, 47, Williamson—probation violation.
•Ricky Dale Johnson, 41, Monticello—probation violation, entering auto,
aggressive driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, hit and run, injuring, tearing down or destruction of mailboxes and knowingly driving vehicle on suspended, canceled or revoked registration.
•James Earl Flanagan, 75, Easley, S.C.—possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by taking/victim over 65, theft by conversion and theft by receiving property stolen in another state.
•Bryan Anthony Harris, 47, Eatonton—probation violation.
•Sarah Jane Powell, 38, Mansfield—brake light violation and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
•Keith O’Neal Hughes, 22, Conyers—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
•Dean Gibson Kilby, 62, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
