Vehicles Are Stolen; Few Arrests Reported

It was a light week for arrests in Jasper County, with only three people arrested in the last week. However, it was a rough week for vehicles, with one being reported burned, and two being reported stolen.

A Chevrolet Silverado truck is missing from a Smithboro Road address, and an Acura is missing from a Post Road address. In addition, arson is being investigated concerning a Chevrolet 1500 truck on Freedonia Road. In addition, a Polaris ATV was taken from an address on Gaissert Road.

The only other theft reported in the last week was that of tools from a building on Wehunt Road.

Those persons arrested include:

•Michael Lynn Alston, 35, Elberton—giving false name, address, or birthdate to law enforcement officer, driving on wrong side of the road, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and driving without a valid license.

•Choyci Brena Moss, 28, Athens—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•David Champagn Learn, 31, Henderson, KY—obscene internet contact with a child and violation of computer pornography and child exploitation laws.

Deputies also responded to numerous calls for service, including 156 traffic stops or stopping suspicious person, 131 serve civil papers, 35 premises check, 34 direct traffic, 14 subject needs officer, 13 alarms, and more.
