Varsity Canes Soccer ‘On A Roll,’ Boys Second in Region Rankings
Jasper County High School boys head soccer coach Justin LuSuer noted that his team had been on a roll for the last couple of weeks—when weather would allow.
With three road games, the team has scored three victories. The first of which came against Greene County in a 3-2 victory duirng a down pour of rain. Austin Link scored two goals and Sammy Nunez won the game on a penalty kick in the final minutes.
The boys went on back-to-back road games at Central Macon and Baldwin County High School earning wins. At Central Macon, Ethan Proctor, Austin Link, and Chandler Dunning all scored in the 3-0 victory.
Against Baldwin, the Canes rallied at half time when they were down 2-1. They went into the second half and scored three goals to win the match 4-2. Proctor scored a hat trick (three goals) and Juan-Carlos Ortiz scored the final goal at the buzzer.
The Soccer Canes are now officially 3-2-1, said Coach LeSuer. The team is currently tied at second place in the region with Union County who the Canes will host this Friday, March 6 at Rose Bowl Field at 7:30 p.m.
