Herman Robert “Buddy” Avant

Herman Robert “Buddy” Avant, age 72, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the Hospice of Central Georgia in Macon.

Buddy Avant was born in Hillsboro, Georgia to the late Herman Glover Avant and Sybil Williams Avant. In addition to his parents, his brother and sister, Calvin Williams Avant and Shirley Anne Avant; brother-in-law, Henry Pope and sisters-in-law, Margaret Avant and Margie Avant preceded him in death.

Buddy Avant served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and retired after twenty-one years of service. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked twenty years for Ace Hardware in Gray and as a mechanic. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Marie Eichhorn Avant of Hillsboro; children, Mark Edward (Beverly) Avant of Monticello and Michelle Lynn (Gerald) Nelson of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Justin Groover, Amber Moore Littell, Trey Moore and Kirsten Ashley Parrott; great-grandchildren, Adriana Littell, Skye Elizabeth Vagg and Talia Rae Thomason; sisters and brother, Frances Pope of Haddock, Christine (Bobby) Daniels of Gray, Hunter Avant of Hillsboro and Sue Clifford of Hillsboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was to be held Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home 264 Hillsboro Street, Monticello, Georgia 31064. Rev. Harold Thompson was to officiate.

The family was to receive friends from 1- 2 p.m. January 29 at Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello.
