Linda Diane Martin Jones
Linda Diane Martin Jones, age 67, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Jasper Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Linda Jones was born in Atlanta, to the late Luther Jack Martin and Susie Margaret Ingram Martin. She lived in Jonesboro before moving to Jasper County in 2000. She was a member of Callie Fuller Baptist Church.
Linda enjoyed playing softball, skating and watching and attending car races, especially NASCAR. While skating at the Uptown Skating Rink in Atlanta, she met John and they became childhood sweethearts. After years apart, they reconnected and married on March 4, 2005. Before retirement, she worked for Mt. Carmel Nursing Home.
She is survived by her husband, John Harvey Jones of Monticello; step-children, John Marshall (Wendy) Jones of Cummings, Sharon Marie Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Yvonne Marie (Mike) Humphries of Bristle, Tenn.; a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Bruce of McDonough, Dorothy Floyd of McDonough, Martha Wilson of Jackson, Dale Griffith of Monticello, Sue Spell of McDonough and Tammy Dycus of Dallas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at Callie Fuller Baptist Church. Interment will be held in Callie Fuller Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Roberson, Billy Underwood, Daniel Spell, Scott Floyd, Steve Wilson and Joe Spell.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, at Jordan Funeral Home.
