Rudolph ‘Dr. Coon’ Clement

Homegoing services for Rudolph “Dr. Coon” Clement, were held Saturday, Jan. 4, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton officiated; burial was in South View Cemetery.

Mr. Clement was born November 29, 1933 in Jasper County, and was the son of the late Troy Clement and the late Neca Grace Tinsley. Rudolph departed this life on December 29, 2019.

He attended school in Jasper County. For 35 years, Mr. Clement was a dedicated employee of the city of Monticello.

At an early age, he joined St. James A.M.E. Church. He attended Springfield Baptist Church regularly and enjoyed the fellowship with other churches throughout the county.

Rudolph was preceded in death by three brothers: Alphonso Tinsley, Robert Clement, and Ernest Tinsley, and two sisters, Betty C. Wilson and Nancy Tinsley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Christine White Clement; daughter, Aderin Watson (Rev. John Watson); two sons, Michael Clemons and Quentin Clemons; two sisters, Bonnie T. Smith and Dorothy Tinsley; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, three grandchildren, Kamaria Watson, Quintavious Clemons and Cheldon Clemons; an adopted granddaughter, Amber Thomas; two dear friends, Stacy Standifer and Opal Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 923 Funderburg Drive, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
