JCHS Hurricane Varsity Squads Play

The Monticello Hurricane varsity squads acquired a pair of losses to the Jones County Greyhounds prior to the Christmas holiday and wrapped up action in the Mary Persons Holiday Classic this week.

On Monday the Canes’ boy team faced off against Perry on the final day of the tournament. The squad defeated Crawford County 51-32 on Saturday but fell 63-46 to Veterans High School on the tournament’s opening day.

The Lady Canes opened the tournament with a 65-36 loss to Perry before falling to Crawford County on Saturday. In their final game of the tournament, the Lady Canes faced off against Northeast High School but dropped that contest 67-39.

Prior to the tourney, the Canes fell to Jones County 60-52 and the Lady Canes fell 65-36 to the Lady Grayhounds.

The varsity squads will resume action with the first of a six game region stretch on Friday, Jan. 3.
