Several Sentenced in Court
Ocmulgee District Judge William Prior, Jr. presided over the criminal plea and motion day calendars November 5. The following sentences resulted from that Jasper Superior Court session.
Hakeel Norwood was sentenced to eight years with the first year in Jasper County jail (JCJ) which was suspended upon entry into a state substance abuse treatment program. Charges included two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, criminal trespass, simple assault, simple battery, battery, theft by taking, possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of an officer, and driving without a license. He was credited with time served since March 2019 and fined $1,000.
Reginald Hamm, sentenced to five years with the first 30 days in JCJ for two counts of possession of methamphetamines and crossing the guard line with contraband. Fined $2,000.
Rhett Hayman, sentenced to three years of probation for discharge of firearm on property of another, criminal trespass, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Fined $800.
Daphne Couch, sentenced to one year of probation for possession of marijuana. Fined $400.
Lonny Cooke, sentenced to one year of probation for drugs not in original container. Fined $500.
Lisa Cox, sentenced to one year of probation disorderly conduct and simple battery. Fined $500.
Kevin Glover, sentenced to one year of probation for possession of marijuana. Fined $500.
Crystal Thomas, sentenced to one year of probation for possession of marijuana. Fined $400.
Donald Hill, sentenced to six months of probation for criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor. Fined $300.
Probation revocations included:
Jaylin Thurman, probation revoked to 18 months in the state penal system for new offenses of possession of a firearm by a felon and discharge of a firearm within 50 yards of a highway. He also tested positive for drugs and has failed to find gainful employment and pay court fees.
Andre Tobler, probation revoked to JCJ for 60 days for new offenses of driving while license suspended, failure to complete substance abuse program, and failure to pay court fees.
Michael Lyons, probation revoked to 30 days in JCJ for failure to report to probation, failure to pay court fees, and failure to complete substance abuse treatment.
Tyrone Thurman, probation revoked to JCJ for 30 days for driving under the influence.
Judge Prior also ordered pre-trial diversions for Lashamirria Walker, Gabrielle Dudley, and Laretio Monday.
