Mrs. Mary Delois Jackson Standifer
A homegoing ceremony for Mrs. Mary DeLois Standifer was held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Reginald E. Jacobs, pastor; Alton Standifer, eulogist.
Mrs. Standifer was the daughter of the late Tommy “Flipper” Jackson and Ruby Louise Singleton. On October 19, 2019, God called his precious Angel Lois home to rest.
Lois received her education from Jasper County Training School. Upon finishing school her husband joined the U.S. Air Force where they were blessed to travel to many places and live in many states across the United States. After moving back to Monticello, Lois was employed by Mobil Chemical in Covington until retirement.
Lois began her spiritual journey with the Lord at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello at an early age. She loved the Lord and displayed this love everyday in the unconditional love she showed to everyone she came in contact with. She loved to cook, and many people could attest to her great cooking skills.
Lois married her best friend and the love of her life, Charles Edgar Standifer, on August 25, 1961. This beautiful union led to the birth of four children, Angela (Gerald) Benton, William D. Standifer, Bryan (Maxine) Standifer, and Sharon (Gregory) Robinson all of Monticello.
Lois’ family was always her first priority and the love she gave to them was unconditional and never-ending.
Lois leaves to cherish her memory other than her loving children, special daughters, DeSonia (Greg) Sands, Covington; Wynona (Kim) Price, Decatur; Suraya Cragg, Covington; six sisters, Louise Davenport, Atlanta, Carolyn Thurman, Catherine (Len) Davis both of Monticello, Alberta Carter, Covington, Bonnie (Timothy) Mullins, Monticello, and Rosa Lee Bailey, Monticello; one brother, Tommy Jackson, East Point; three sister-in-laws, Stacey Standifer, Monticello, Annie Standifer, Conyers, and Linda Standifer, Griffin; three brother-in-laws, Richard (Catherine) Standifer, Atlanta; Kenneth Standifer, Monticello; Benny Roach, Monticello; a special uncle whom she loved dearly, Albert Singleton, Atlanta; five other adopted children, five God-children, 37 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
