Jasper Schools See CCRPI Gains

The Jasper County Charter System has received the results of its College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), which showed the district overall score of 74.9 demonstrated a 3.7 increase form the 2018 results.

The system exceeded the overall state average reported in the Georgia statewide accountability model.

The CCRPI is Georgia’s statewide accountability measurement as required by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

The 2019 and 2018 CCRPI scores are directly comparable. Scores from prior years are not comparable because the state made improvements to the CCRPI calculation.

Jasper County Primary School (JCPS) saw the largest gain, going from 50.9 in 2018 to 69.9 in 2019. At Washington Park Elementary School (WPES), the increase was from 67.1 to 74.8. Jasper County High School (JCHS) progressed from 71.2 to 77.7. Lastly, Jasper County Middle School (JCMS) saw a slight decline, from 74.9 to 71.8.

Supt. Kenny Garland applauded the results. “Jasper County School’s commitment to students is evident in the results reported by the state of Georgia. While we celebrate significant gains in overall performance, our faculty, staff and students will continue to strive for high- er goals during the current school year.”

Also released were school climate ratings for all schools in the state. JCHS and JCPS each received a 5-star rating while WPES and JCMS each received a 4-star rating. Stakeholder surveys, school discipline data, and attendance are major factors in determining the climate rating.

The district also reported both four and five year graduation rates were above the state average during the 2019 school year. “This is an area in which significant progress has been made during the past few years,” said Supt. Garland.
