Claude Donald Rogers

Claude Donald Rogers, age 81, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Donald Rogers was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents were the late Claude Thomas Rogers and Ethel Follendore Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Charles Rogers and sister, Rosalind Loll.

Before retirement, Donald worked as a supervisor for Enterprise Aluminum Company for over 30 years and retired from Georgia Pacific as a mill wright. After retirement, he worked as a courier for McIntosh State Bank.

Donald loved nature and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sporting events. He was a quiet man but loved people. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; church family and the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Thompson Rogers of Monticello; children, Wanda (Mike) Urick of Oklahoma, Robert Rogers of Georgia, Marsha Rockmore of Monticello and Cindy (Kenneth) Thomason of Monticello; grandchildren, Ivey, James, India, Kevin, Raychel, Garrett, Sonya, John, Robert, Kelly and Lindsey; great-grandchildren including Roman, London and Nevaeh, J. T. and Claire; and brother, Melton (Patricia) Rogers of Monticello.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Smithboro Baptist Church in Monticello. Interment was in West View Cemetery. Revs. Jeff Pangle and Joe Ezzard officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were Charles Loll, Clayton Loll, Larry Greene, Terrell Rogers, Derrick Rogers and B. J. Rockmore.
