Deer Festival Set November 2
The 53rd annual Jasper County Deer Festival is rapidly approaching.
It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, and as usual The Monticello News will present a special section highlighting the events, and welcoming the deer hunters to Jasper County.
Advertisers may want to seize the opportunity as it will be included in the regular paper and hundreds of extra copies are printed to give out to our visitors that day. All runners of the Deer Dash get a special section as do all exhibitors, and many others. The deadline to advertise in that section is next Thursday, Oct. 24.
The trail cam contest is under way, and the photo with the most likes and shares will grant the hunter who submits it a new trail cam.
We are asking all successful hunters to send in photos of their kill, and would welcome any hunting stories you’d like to share. Send to info@themonticellonews.com or call us to set up an interview, 706-468-6511.
Contestants are being sought for the Venison Cook-off, so successful hunters, come cook it up!
The Deer Festival pageant is this Sunday, Oct. 22. The Deer Festival will kick off with the Fun Run at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Deer Dash 5 K beginning at 8 a.m.
By 9 a.m., all vendors will be set up, entertainment will begin, and the festival will be under way.
More information on the Deer Festival can be foudn within the pages of today’s newspaper!
