JV Lady Cougars Win Home Contest
Piedmont Academy’s junior varsity softball team gained more valuable playing experience on Monday and recorded a win in the process.
The JV Lady Cougars defeated Creekside 9-0 in a home contest. Piedmont collected 12 hits offensively and broke open a close game in the middle innings.
Piedmont led 2-0 after the first inning and that was where the score remained until the Lady Cougars added three more in the bottom of the third inning. The team then pushed two runs across in both the fifth and sixth frames.
Marissa Holder paced the team with three hits while Bailey Mobley and Emily Whitwell both had two. Carlie Wilbanks drew a walk while Holder and Mobley both drove in two runs. Mel Karoffa added an RBI.
Averi Camp started the game in the pitcher’s circle working three innings and striking out four. Emily McEwen worked two innings and also had four strikeouts.
Defensively the JV Lady Cougars committed just one error. Camp and McEwen limited Creekside to just three hits.
