Tommie Dee Davis, Jr.
Tommie Dee Davis, Jr. was born on Monday, January 13, 1947, in Jasper County to the late Tommie Dee Davis, Sr. and Lue Vance Davis. He passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the tender age of 72.
Mr. Davis graduated from Jasper County Training School. Not long after, he fought in the Vietnam war. Tommie worked for Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Star Electric, and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years.
In his community he was a Mason in the Masonic Lodge. His most memorable times here on earth were spent fishing, hunting, gardening, hanging with the fellas, singing, working on cars, storytelling, providing for his family, and many others, and most of all, spending time with family.
Tommie will graciously be remembered by his loving wife, Evelyn Davis, of 50+ years; four daughters, Karen (Gerald) of Conyers, Tabatha Davis-Burnette (Quentilous) of Macon, Nora Davis-Seats (Michael), also of Conyers, and Van Davis of Monticello; grandchildren Kentoria Oliver, Christopher Oliver, Ryan Oliver, Ashley Waller, Tiffany Davis, Anthony Epps, Jurnee Davis, Lalah Seats, Eemani Davis, D’asia Smith, Enyia Smith, plus seven bonus grandchildren. Also 15 great-grandchildren, his aunt, Ruby Boykin, honorary brother, Jimmie Benton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life for Mr. Davis was held Friday, Sept. 6, at St. James A.M. E. Church. Rev. Reginald E. Jacobs, Sr., pastor; Rev. Dr. Donna Marie Calix, eulogist. Burial was in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Pallbearers were Anthony Epps, Quentilous Burnette, Gerald Duvall, Corey Patterson, Calvin Stone, and Ardell Waller.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
