Several Are Sentenced in Superior Court

Judge Amanda Petty had a busy week in Jasper Superior Court last week between the motion day and criminal calendar being under review with some 15 civil cases and 33 criminal cases.

Didi Joann Parker received the heaviest sentence of the week for two criminal cases that netted the defendant 13 years with the first 180 days in Jasper County jail which was suspended upon entry into a residential substance abuse treatment center which was also suspended upon entry into a long term in-patient substance abuse treatment program for at least six months or successful completion. Her offenses included three counts of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance three counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana. She was credited with time served since July and fined $2,500.

Clayton Scott Hardy was sentenced on three separate criminal cases to five years with the first 72 hours in Jasper County jail and then shall enter and complete a residential substance abuse treatment program which was suspended upon entry into a long term in-patient substance abuse treatment program for at least six months or successful completion. His charges included attempting to elude a police officer, two counts of possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving, and theft by shoplifting. Fined $1,300.

Other sentences included the following:

•Candace Bloodworth, sentenced to eight years of probation for sale of methamphetamine. Fined $1,500.

•Melvin Cosby, four years of probation for driving while license suspended, no proof of insurance, operation of unregistered vehicle, and following too closely.Fined $2,500.

•Timothy Wren, sentenced to three years of probation for possession of methamphetamine. obstruction of an officer, and giving false information to an officer. Credited with time served since July and fined $1,500.

Timothy Cook, sentenced to three years of probation and 90 days in Jasper County jail for possession of methamphetamine. Credited with time served since July and fined $1,000.

•Marvis Wyman, sentenced to three years of probation for two counts of simple assault, three counts of criminal trespasss, three counts of disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.Credited with time served since July and fined $900.

Probation revocations included:

•Donney Scandrett, revoked to 180 days in Jasper County jail for new offenses in Spalding County and failure to meet standard probation terms.

•Tammy Bonds, revoked to 160 days in Jasper County jail for failure to complete the Rockdale drug court and violating probation terms.

•Roderick Dumas, probation revoked to 90 days in Jasper County jail for new offense of simple battery in Jasper County.

•Jonathan Maroney, probation revoked to 90 days in Jasper County jail for positive drug test and failure to report to the probation office.

•Ernest Scott, probation revoked to 80 days in Jasper County jail for changing residence without notification and failure to report to probation office.
