Matt Nelson Goodman

Matt Nelson Goodman, age 49, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Matt Goodman was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His father was the late George Coy Goodman, Sr.

Matt attended the Putnam/Jasper Service Center in Eatonton for 42 years. He loved to play with the rattle that his cousin, “Bubba” made for him as a child. He was special to all that knew and loved him, especially his “Nanny,” cousins, caregivers and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Cordelia Nelson Goodman of Monticello; brother, George (Rita) Goodman, Jr. of Monticello; sister, Nancie (Mike) Schindler of Atlanta; niece and nephew, Christy (Justin) Wyatt and Chad (Ashly) Hunt; great nieces and nephew, Macee Wyatt, Synclair Wyatt, Jillian Hunt and Gavin Hunt; uncle, Mike (Kathy) Nelson, Sr. of Monticello; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019, at Enon Baptist Church. Interment will be held in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jeremy Tondee will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Hooberry, Chad Hunt, Jones Nelson, Mike Nelson, Jr., Walt Nelson and Justin Wyatt.

The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Putnam/Jasper Support Services 149 Sara Lee Blvd., Eatonton, Ga. 31024.
