Dorothy Denise Lyon

Dorothy Denise Lyon, age 63, of Oxford, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, at her residence.

Denise Lyon was born on April 11, 1956, in Lithonia. She was born the third daughter to the late Harold Lloyd Lyon and Dorothy Inez Goddard Lyon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Faye Lyon Webb; and grandparents, George and Parrie Lyon and Eugene and Janie Goddard.

Denise Lyon graduated from Lithonia High School. Before retirement, she was a truck driver for the Swift Pine Straw Company and previously drove trucks for Transus Trucking and Heartland Express. She began her trucking career at her parents’ nursery, hauling plants from Mobile, Alabama to Atlanta.

She is survived by her daughter, Marissa Lyon of Jackson; grandchildren, Jolie Smith and Grayson Smith of Jackson; sisters, Peggy (Joe) Heard and Teresa Harley of Oxford; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Jordan Funeral Home.
