Many Enjoy Home Tour, Museum Opening

A good crowd turned out for the spring Tour of Homes and Gardens, along with the opening of the Seven Islands Road Museum Saturday.

The photo above depicts Margaret Watson as a school teacher at the Seven Islands Road museum at Thomas Persons Hall, and the photo below right shows the art sale held on the lawn of the Hall during the festivities.

The tour featured several homes and other buildings, and in the top photo, David Dyer gives the history of his office for the Development Authority of Jasper County on Maple Street. Underneath that photo are tour participants walking into the Henderson-Dinkins House on Eatonton Street.

The tour began at Reese Hall, located four doors up on Eatonton Street. It also included Monticello Presbyterian Church, the Allen-Huckabee residence on Persons Street and the Edge residence on College Street.

The Monticello Garden Club provided decorations for each stop on the tour. The tour was sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority which said it’s looking forward to next year’s tour.
