Billie Carol Sykes Burney

Billie Carol Sikes Burney, age 72, of Covington, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson, Ga.

Carol Burney was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., to the late Roy Frederick Sykes and Margaret Burke Sykes. She was raised in Newton County and lived in Louisiana for 10 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mary Agnes Sykes, and brothers, Ricky Sykes and Ronald Leué.

Carol enjoyed sewing, painting, cross-stitch and gardening.

She is survived by her sons, Hank (Rita) Burney of Covington, Mark (Lori) Burney of Covington, and Paul (Dorsi) Burney of Monticello; grandchildren, Audrey Burney, Chris Burney and Austin Burney; and sisters and brothers, Sara Ward of Sumter, S.C., Ralph Leué (Cora Lie) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Rudy Leué and Bonnie Leué.
