JCMS Canes Compete Saturday for MS Title

The Jasper County Middle School Hurricanes advanced to the championship game against Oak Hill Middle School during the Veterans Middle School Basketball tournament. The game set for 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 comes after the squad’s victory over Rex Mill Middle School last Saturday.

The 73-50 win didn’t come without controversy and two Hurricane technical calls as the officiating seemed a bit irregular, just ask anyone of the large Monticello contingency there to cheer on the young Canes who continue their pursuit of a “Path of Perfection” for the season.

“I congratulate my guys for coming out with the win against Rex Mill. Thanks for all the support from the parents, my family, teachers, coaches, and etc. I’m so proud of these guys coming out each game playing their hardest,” said Head Coach Keldrick Davis. “I feel so proud coaching these young men.”

Coach Davis is asking attendees to wear purple and white to support the squad.

Scorers from last week included Marcus Whitlock with 23 points, Landon Bonner with 17 points, Ashton Pennamon with 16 points, Geralynn Benton with four points, Kemarion Thomas and Tom Schilling each with three points, Randy Williams, Jacarian Grier, and Kaidon Whidby with two points each, and Cedrion Stone with one point.
