City Discusses Personnel

The Monticello City Council has met in called meetings which they immediately closed to discuss personnel twice in the last two weeks.

On February 18, council met for about 50 minutes then made a motion to have Mayor [Bryan] Standifer address the personnel issue with the assistance of the city attorney. That was the extent of it.

Then, on Tuesday, Feb. 26, they met and named Peggy Billerman interim city clerk, as City Clerk Lathaydra Sands has given notice that her last day is Friday.

They also instructed Mrs. Billerman to run an ad for a city clerk.

Lastly they agreed that the mayor and city attorney should proceed with conversations about the personnel issue.

Mrs. Billerman, who retired as City Manager, then returned as interim City Manager is filling in at City Hall currently.
