Fred Harrison Thompson

Fred Harrison Thompson, age 78, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Fred Thompson was born in Hanceville, Alabama, to the late Clarence Titus Thompson and Robbie Roe Thompson. He lived in Marietta for a number of years before moving to Jasper County twenty years ago.

Before retirement, Mr. Thompson was a residential builder and developer. He was a member of the Home Builders Association of Georgia, and Hunter Pope Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and gardening; but above all, he loved his family. He was a member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Darby Thompson of Mansfield; children, Kelly (Tina) Thompson of Acworth, Randy (Trisha) Thompson of Social Circle, Leigh (Hays) Dunnam of Acworth, and Melissa (Steve) Bottoms of Dallas; grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Sidney Thompson, Ansley Brackett, Sarah Thompson, Rebeca Thompson, Evan Dunnam, Darby Dunnam, and Austin Bottoms; sisters and brothers, Cathy Baker of Cullman, Alabama, Wayne Thompson of Jemison, Alabama, Ruby Pagett of North Charleston, South Carolina, Melvin Thompson of Hanceville, Alabama, and Jamie Wolfe of Robertsdale, Alabama; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Monticello First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. Nathaniel Long will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kelly Thompson, Don Kelly, Ron Smith, Robert Kilgore, Hays Dunnam, and Frank Pool.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Fellowship Hall of the Monticello First United Methodist Church.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, Monticello, Georgia 31064.
