Bottle Shop Is Burglarized

Investigators with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) are investigating a break-in at McMichael’s Package Store on Frobel Street that occurred early Wednesday morning.
Sheriff Donnie Pope said officers are following up on leads about who may have taken two cash registers from the store. They are also still checking to see if any merchandise is missing. Surveillance cameras are still being checked.
Deputies with the JCSO started out the new year chasing suspects who take it upon themselves to bash mailboxes. Four mailboxes on Barnes Mountain Road were apparently smashed during the wee hours of New Year’s eve, Dec. 31.
In addition to that, deputies responded to a report of a stolen bicycle that apparently occurred Christmas night, sometime between 8 p.m., and 8 a.m. the next morning.
Lastly, deputies responded to a call that they determined was theft by deception where a person was missing some $87.
Persons arrested in the last week, and their charges, include:
•Jaymi Celeste Peacock, 22, Monticello—possession of methamphetamine.
•Justin Yeng Xiong, 27, Eatonton—possession of methamphetamine.
