Cassidy Cook To Compete For Young Harris Softball Team

Cassidy Cook is set to continue her academic and athletic careers at Young Harris.
The Piedmont Academy senior officially signed with the Mountain Lions last week as she was joined by family, teammates, coaches and classmates. She was the fourth Piedmont senior softball player to sign collegiately in recent days.
“She has great speed and athletic ability,” said Piedmont softball coach Colt Spivey. “She was outstanding for us in the outfield.”
Cook was a strong defensive player for the Lady Cougars and also one of the team’s top threats on the base paths.
“She is one of the best I have coached in terms of running the bases,” Spivey said. “Offensively, she could bat anywhere in the lineup. She would be in the leadoff position on down to clean up.”
Cook batted more than .400 for her high school career and had seven homeruns. She helped lead Piedmont to the GISA Class AA state title in 2017 and to a runner-up season this fall.
She was an All-Region player for four seasons and All-State for three.
Cook joins teammates Hailey Hooper, Neely Bradford and Madison Morton who previously signed to play at the next level.
“We’ve had a great run with this group of seniors,” Spivey said. “We have benefited from having a lot of softball talent. We had 14 players this year and four are moving to the next level.”
