Shirley Brown Thomaston

Shirley Brown Thomaston, age 82, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at her residence.

Shirley Thomaston was born in Elba, Ala., to the late Perry Alton Brown and Fannie Mae Cook Brown. She lived in Huguley, Ala. until moving to Monticello in 1972. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Clifford Thomaston in 2012; daughter-in-law, Karen Thomaston; and two brothers and four sisters.

Shirley was an active member of the Monticello Baptist Church, and the WMU and Bernice Lane Circle. She was a phenomenal grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, John Mark Thomaston of Monticello, and Don Clifford (Kimmie) Thomaston of Monticello; grandchildren, Clifford A. Thomaston, Andrew K. Thomaston, Brett A. Thomaston, Tori M. Thomaston, and Kris Agustin; great-grandchildren, Noah Atkinson, Aaliyah Carter, Shelby Thomaston, Landon Thomaston, Laney Thomaston, Zykira Dunn, and Zoey Dunn; and sisters, Pam Meadows and Barbara Ann Weldon, both of Valley, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at the Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be held in Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. David Artessa will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brett Thomaston, Cliff Thomaston, Andrew Thomaston, Kris Agustin, Dennis Hill, and Anthony Meadows.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at the Monticello Baptist Church, prior to the service.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello Baptist Church Building Fund, 334 W. Greene Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
