Eight Get 13 Right; Joanne Jordan Wins

Long-time faithful football contest player Joanne Jordan was the lucky winner this week of The Monticello News football contest, correctly guessing the winner of 13 games listed, and being closer on the tie-breaker than anyone else with 13 right.
The other seven players with 13 right all guessed higher on the tie-breaker, which was Monticello’s win over Putnam County, 24-8. Those players were Jim Bledsoe, Tammy Harvey, Kaitlyn Harvey, Kenny Harvey, Lane Mason, Denise Parker, and Lyle Weber.
Ms. Jordan said she knew she was perfect through the high school and college games, and the two pro games she missed she could explain. She missed the Patriots win over the Dolphins, but said she just didn’t want to pick the Patriots. Her only other miss was Houston’s win over Indianapolis 37-34, which went down to the wire.
For her effort, Ms. Jordan picked up a $25 prize from David Leach at Monticello Drugs, who along with Dana Leach Realty were co-sponsors of the week.
This week is another opportunity for one lucky player to collect a $25 prize from Southern Edge Realty, and to have his or her name added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll. Each time a player gets 12 or more right, his or her name is added to the honor roll for a chance at four premium tickets to the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. At the end of the contest, all those names are put into a hat, and one winner is drawn.
It’s a challenge every week, but anyone can play and anyone can win. Novice or seasoned player, just pick the winners of the 15 games listed on page 9 of today’s paper, and write them on the entry form or a separate piece of paper and submit it to The Monticello News no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct.. 5. Entries may be submitted in person at 247 West Washington Street, by fax to 706-468-6576, or by e-mail to info@themonticellonews.com Remember, write legibly, and be sure to get entries in by the deadline.
