Audrey Marie Hodge Lewis

Audrey Marie Hodge Lewis, age 82, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at her residence.

Marie Lewis was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Carroll Longfellow Hodge and Evelyn Essie Moore Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Lewis and sister, Judith C. Hodge.

She enjoyed her work as a seamstress. For many years she was a loving and compassionate caregiver to many family members. The people in the community loved and knew her as “Granny.” She was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale.

She is survived by her children, Joan (Larry) Champion of Shady Dale, David (Teresa) Lewis of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Cheryl (Terrell) Roberts of Tifton; grandchildren, Steven Champion, Kevin (Londa) Champion, Larissa Ruark, Joshua (Dulce) Lewis, and Christopher (Amanda) Gardner; great-grandchildren, K.C. Champion, Gracie Champion, Ryan Champion, Malcom Ruark, Carleigh Lewis, Caitlin Gardner, and Nathan Gardner; and sister, Sara (Ken) Reece of Athens.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Rev. Ed Westbrook and Brother Russell White will officiate. Interment will be held in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mansfield.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund P. O. Box 15, Shady Dale, Ga. 31085.
