Lady Canes Go Undefeated In Region 8AA, Enter Region Tournament As Top Seed
The Jasper County High School Lady Hurricanes softball varsity squad completed the 2018-2019 season of region competition as the undefeated top seed after a 13-3 win over Putnam Tuesday.

Against Putnam, 10 runs in the first inning was practically all the Lady Canes needed to seal the victory. The game only went five innings as the squad added two runs in the second and one in the third. The squad totaled 23 hits and five errors to Putnam’s three hits and zero errors.
Bailey Jenkins was on the mound with three strikeouts and 15 first pitch strikes.

In the 7-6 win over the Rabun County Lady Tigers, the Lady Canes got off to an early start with six runs scored in the first three innings. Rabun made up part of the deficit with four runs in the fourth while adding two runs in the top of the seventh to tie. One run in the bottom of the seventh earned the Lady Canes the win.
Jenkins pitched the entire game with three strikeouts and 18 first pitch strikes earning a 1.43 whip.
Madison Abbott had two RBIs while Hailie Tripp, Makenzie Abbott, and Barton each had one walk.
In a non-region contest against AAAAA Houston County last Wednesday, the Lady Canes fell 10-8. Barton had mound duties striking out three. Jenkins had a good game with four RBI and three hits.
The Lady Canes will wrap up the regular season over the next week with a game scheduled at Jackson Wednesday and against Central Carroll on the road at the University of West Georgia on Monday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. with the final regular season game hosting Stratford Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
The 8AA region tournament will kickoff Wednesday, Sept. 26 and continue through Thursday, Oct. 4. The Lady Canes will receive a bye for the first two rounds by virtue of being seeded #1 and will host the final two rounds on Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 2 & 4. Their opponent and times of play are not known at this time and will be determined by the first two rounds of action.
