Mrs. Katherine ‘Kat’ Dearro Jefferson

A celebration of life for Mrs. Katherine “Kat” Dearro Jefferson was held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Shady Dale.

Evangelist Michelle Scott officiated; Rev. Kerwin Scott is pastor. Interment was held at Midway Independent Church Cemetery in Shady Dale.

Katherine Dearro Jefferson was born on September 16, 1948, to Willie Frank and Mabel Dearro, Sr. in Shady Dale. She departed this life on the morning of September 1, 2018. Mrs. Jefferson received her formal education at the Jasper County Training School. Katherine had a heard of gold and loved to cook and feed everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Frank Dearro, Sr.; brother, Bobby Dearro, and sister, Emma Dearro-Rooks.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband of over 40 years, Harden Jefferson, Jr.; mother Mabel Dearro; sons, Maurice Jefferson, Sr., and Karl (Twanna) Jefferson; daughter, Sheila Jefferson-Belcher; brothers, Benny (Eva) Dearro, Willie Frank Dearro, Sr., and Evin Dearro; sisters, Jewel (Riley) Kelly, Corine McGuire, and Cornelia Dearro.

Also, sisters-in-law, Anne Burchette, Denise (Lewis) Walton, Dean Kelly, Virginia Dearro and brothers-in-law, Sammie Jefferson, Timothy Jefferson and Kenneth Rooks.

She also leaves nine grandchildren, Maurice Jefferson, Jr., Brooklyn Jefferson, Armani Jordan, Shan Aikens, Maurcellis Jefferson, Janay Jefferson, Haleigh Jefferson, Jaeda Belcher, Nahzaire Jefferson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
