Henry Stinson, Jr.

A celebration of life for Mr. Henry Stinson, Jr. will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church, 240 Aikenton Road in Monticello. Marcus Davis will deliver the Eulogy. Interment at Community Cemetery in Shady Dale. Public viewing on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Wake from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Henry Stinson was born on February 1, 1931 in Jasper County to the late Mattie Mae Thompson and Henry Stinson, Sr. He departed this life at the Veterans Hospital in Augusta, on August 9, 2018.

He attended Jasper County public schools in Shady Dale and Monticello. He joined Greenwood Baptist Church at an early age where he served on the Usher Board. Henry served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 receiving an honorable discharge. Henry married the late Mattie Mae Thompson on June 22, 1955. He worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base and Bibb Cotton Mill.

Henry leaves to cherish his memories, eight children, William H. (Juana)Stinson, Carolyn (Vanlee) Thornton, Alecia Ann Harris, Christopher (Lori Ann) Stinson, Lizzie Lee (Eddie) Whitlow all of Detroit, MI, Essie Mae (Homer) Ross, and Helen Thompson of Ohio, and Florene Dennis of Madison.

Henry also leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Roberta Greene of Shady Dale and Pauline Eubanks of Covington; three brothers, Eugene (Sarah Ann) Stinson of Shady Dale, Roosevelt Stinson of Covington, Freddy Stinson of Miami, FLA, two brothers-in-law Charlie Eubanks of Covington, and Charlie John Eubanks.

He leaves 27 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
