Brian Kemp Wins Here, Statewide

Brian Kemp took 81.7 percent of the vote in Jasper County to be the Republican nominee for governor, while statewide he defeated Casey Cagle by a margin of 69.45 percent to 30. 55 percent.

For the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, locally David haver won with 53.50 percent of the vote to Geoff Duncan’s 46.50 percent.

Statewide those totals Wednesday morning were Georgia Duncan the victor with 50.16 percent of that vote compared to David Shafer’s 49.84 percent. There will most likely be a recount for that election.

For Secretary of State, Jasper voters, like those across the state chose Ben Raffensperger over David Belle Isle. Raffensperger won here with 73.25 percent of the vote, but statewide received 61.76 percent.

The only race on the run-off for the Democrats was that of state school superintendent. Both here and statewide, Otha E. Thornton, Jr. defeated Sid Chapman, although the gap was wider statewide.
