Mrs. Bessie Mae Rivers-Ross
A celebration of life for Mrs. Bessie Mae Rivers-Ross, who died June 24, was held Saturday, June 30 at St. John C.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Dr. Lavonia K. McIntyre is pastor; Rev. Cornelius McClendon officiated.
Pallbearers were Lorenzo Clemons, Christopher Thomas, Ray Tripp, Andre Mitchell, Tim Conwell, and Willie Adams.
Mrs. Rivers-Ross was born to Ada Lou and Buster Rivers on July 28, 1931. She was educated in the Campbell Cross Road school system. Bessie loved to cook, bake and sew. She was employed as a housekeeper for many years.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Frank Ross; her parents; three children, James Goolsby, Jarvis Ross and Glamorous R. Smith, and 12 siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven children, Patricia Curry (Dennis), Jared Goolsby, Jeffery Ross (Virginia), Lamon Clemons (Lorenzo), al of Monticello, Aretha J. Asberry (Terrele) of Atlanta, Linda Malone and Robbie Davis of Milledgeville; a special daughter-in-love Patrick Ross of Atlanta; stepson, Walter L. Ross, 26 grandchildren 50 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caregivers.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
