Keri Roach Is Top in Nation

Keri Roach, a rising senior at Jasper County High School, placed first in the nation in the Health Care Administration competition at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, MD.

Miss Roach advanced to the national contest by virtue of her fourth place win at the Georgia Leadership Conference in March. She received a $1,200 prize from the event sponsor, Destinations Career Academies and Programs.

Miss Roach, along with 2018 graduate Morgan Blackwell and FBLA adviser Mrs. Johnnie Sue Moore, traveled last Tuesday on a Georgia FBLA-sponsored chartered bus to Baltimore, where they spent almost a week sight-seeing and participating in contests and leadership workshops. Miss Blackwell competed in the Accounting II event.

During the trip, the local three toured several well-known sights in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, and also attended a Baltimore Orioles game at Camden Yards. In addition, they also spent a good bit of time with Jasmine El-Jourbagy Jernigan, a JCHS alum who is the FBLA adviser at the Newton College and Career Academy in Covington.

JCHS principal Buddy Cain was elated when he heard the news of Miss Roach’s first place win in the nation. “This is so exciting. Keri is a great student and very active in several student organizations at JCHS. We are so proud of her for this accomplishment and for representing Jasper County High School so well.”

FBLA adviser Mrs. Amy Scroggs expressed appreciation to all those individuals and businesses who donated to the fundraising efforts of the JCHS FBLA. “Without the financial support of so many people in Jasper County, this trip would not have been possible. For that, we are extremely grateful.”
