Sallie Vernice Standifer
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Sallie Vernice Standifer, who died June 18, 2018, was held June 23, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Gregory Jacobs is pastor; Rev. Terr Glawson officiated. Burial was in South View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Antwan Jackson, Artavious Sands, Dion Banks, Ashford Deon, TraQuaviou Jackson, Amantae Sands, Gary Banks and Travis Gantt.
Sallie Vernice Standifer was born June 15, 1949 in Jones County. She completed 69 yeras of earthly life on the morning of June 18, 2018.
Sallie atatended Jasper County Training School. She was one of 10 chidlren born to George Willie Lloyd and Tommie Dee Flowers Lloyd. Sallie was known for her love for her family, sitting on her front porch, and cooking. She was employed with Bibb Manufacturing, Monticello Sewing Plant and the Jasper County School System. Sallie was the wife of Willie Charles Standifer and the mother of five children.
She was preceded in death by her parents (George and Tommie), son, Charles Anthony Standifer; sisters, Ollie Carrier Clowers, Carsie Mae Sands, Doris Gardner, Annie Ruth Sands, Willie Dee Sands and Gloria Wise, and brothers, Cobbie Lloyd, Jim Lloyd and G.W. Lloyd.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Willie Charles Standifer; sons, Trenton Standifer, Demario Sentell Standifer (Margie), and Alonzo Standifer, her daughter and best friend, Shelia Standifer; 11 grandchildren, Antonio Patterson, Adrienne Patterson, Trenton Standifer, Jr., Trenecia Standifer, Casey Standifer, Zion Standifer, Ty’Queshay Pitts, Sariyah Standifer, Demario Standifer, Jr., Jamario Standifer, and Damerius Standifer; three great-grandchildren, Amari Patterson, Ahmarquis Patterson and Avion Patterson; a brother-in-law, Ernest Sands, Sr. (Emma), and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
