Hulon Speer
Hulon Speer, age 81, of McDonough, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at SNT Comfortable Living in Conley, Ga.
Hulon Speer, the third child of John Thomas and Bessie Mae Speer, was born in Newborn, Newton County, Georgia. He was educated in the Georgia public school system. On July 21, 1954, he entered the United States Army and served as a professional tractor truck driver. On December 19, 1959, he married Bettie Ann Allen Speer, a union that would endure for over 54 years, and produce two children.
His wife Bettie Ann Allen Speer and his daughter, Dorothy Ann Speer Skinner, preceded him in death.
Hulon was a devoted husband, father, and Christian. He joined the church later on in life and attended Heritage Baptist Church. After retiring from McKesson Drugs in 1999, Hulon and Bettie moved to McDonough, Henry County. Along with being an avid fisherman, Hulon enjoyed old westerns, country gospel music and the seek and find word puzzles. He will greatly be missed by all those who loved him.
He is survived by his son, Thomas H. Speer of Forest Park; grandchildren, Steven Mitchell Skinner, Gregory William and Linda Skinner and Christy Ann and Daniel Freeman; great-grandchildren, Paige Skinner, Sean Skinner, Alexa Freeman and Riley Freeman; and Godsons, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, numerous nephews, nieces; and extended family and friends throughout his community.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Pastor Terrell Hopkins will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas H. Speer, Victor F. Morales, William R. Jenkins, Jason B. Penny, Benn Harrell and Billy Harrell.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Jordan Funeral Home.
